One School, One Book from® is a program developed to promote family literacy. By providing every participating school with tools, resources, guidance, and support Read to Them® educates families and schools on the benefits and importance of reading aloud. We're delighted that the first two books in the Charlie Bumpers series are a part of this important effort.

Charlie Bumpers vs. the Teacher of the Year:
"Our school, Mill Hill Elementary in Southport CT, chose “Charlie Bumpers vs the Teacher of the Year” for our "One Book, Two Schools” Program. It was a HUGE success! From the book reading experience (ALL the kids grades K-5 LOVED it!) our Skype visit with the author at the end of the program...and his actual visit to our school to start off the new school year...AMAZING! I would HIGHLY recommend this book and Bill Harley to any school thinking of reading one of his books...EVERYONE should know what an amazing book/author choice this is!" Wendi Malone

"It’s been a blast to do author visits where the whole school is familiar with one of the Charlie books. I've been really moved by the enthusiasm of the students and the creativity of the teachers, who have used the books as springboards to all sorts of activities." -Bill Harley

"We've been doing One School One Book for the last 6 years and this was hands down the absolute best book for an entire school community; students, parents, and teachers can all relate to the characters and sympathize with the challenges that Charlie faces." - Megan Zarzycki, Olive B. Loss Elementary School, Delaware
At Lincoln-Titus School, in Crompond, NY each class created a special sneaker to celebrate Charlie's shoe problems.
The day Bill was there, the principal wore sneakers.

Charlie Bumpers vs. the Really Nice Gnome:
"We could not believe that we enjoyed the second book better than the first." The Charlie Bumpers Book Club
We can't wait to see what fun activites schools come up with. We really want someone to write the play "The Magician's Castle"! And perform it!
