Reviews & Memorable Quotes
"Brought to life by Bill Harley this read-aloud story is certain to be prized by budding buccaneers." parentsandkids.net
"Clever rhyming, plus illustrations filled with colorfully clad pirates and soiled laundry hoist the audience appeal here to the tiptop of the mast." Kirkus Reviews
"it's a funny read for would-be pirates - especially those with older sisters" The New York Post
"This book has everything to attract kids and tickle their funny bones - pirates, smelly socks, and, best of all, undies!" School Library Journal
"We are both THRILLED with the book! I bought a second copy to give my daughter's best friend for his birthday in July. In my 6 year old daughter's eyes, Bill Harley can do no wrong. The pictures were an awesome complement to the fun story." Dawn S.
"This comic, over-the-top rhyming story involves both pirates and underwear. What kid wouldn't like it?"Miami Herald
"Our whole family just loves your "Dirty Joe the Pirate" book, and our 4 1/2-yr-old is completely smitten. Right off the bat, he asked us read it to him three times in a row! We love the cartoon-with-an-edge style illustrations, and all the surprising little 'visual extras' that Jack Davis has added to this wonderful tale. Of course we miss the stanzas that were cut from the original ballad (none of Bill Harley's words should EVER be cut!) but we are willing to accept that picture books have to be a certain length and format in order to fit the printer's needs. All in all, a fantastic success that makes us want to listen to "Blah, Blah Blah" more often, and read the book more often too. A great visual addition to one of the funniest ballads of all time. Thank you, Bill + Jack, for a perfect pair. Congrats," Shaler + Christopher + Jasper
"Loved it although, somehow, I thought the story might be a bit longer. Still was most enjoyable complete with it's surprise ending ie: meeting his long lost sister! Illustrations were also well done and all in all a good read." Kenneth
